Fundraising for Community Defibrillators in Memory of Damien Dolan
To mark what would have been Damien Dolan’s 40th birthday (14 January) and to help raise funds for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of two defibrillators purchased in his memory, the club will host a challenge match at 1.30pm on Sunday 16 February. In an initiative led by the Dolan family following Damien’s death in 2005, two defibrillators were installed in Garrison in his memory. One is located on the club grounds, while the other is located at Devenish Villas in the village. The match will see our current senior team take on a team made up of Damien’s teammates; a challenge game sure to provide plenty of entertainment! Donations will be collected at the gate.
Meanwhile, the Garrison Run4Fun group will host a run and walk the morning before, on Saturday 15 February. Anyone who would like to support the fundraiser in this way, is asked to gather at The Gillaroo at 9.30am where the group will set off on a 5k walk and run. This will be followed by coffee in The Bilberry where everyone attending can make their donation there. This walk and run will also round off the Every Step Counts challenge so we would encourage as many who can, to please get out and involved.

The Every Step Counts Challenge is back and runs until Wednesday 12th February.
Last year Devenish took on the Ulster challenge and finished 29th on a leader board of 250!
Whether, you walk or run, EVERY step counts. And once everyone signed up collectively tracks 4,000km for Devenish, the club will be entered into a draw. There are three donations of €2,500 towards club funding per province up for grabs.
Please make sure to sign up for the 2025 challenge tonight or as soon as you can so you and your tracker are ready to go, and please share this post to encourage sign ups. Please also help any friends and family that might need a hand to get signed up too.
This is a super way to get our 2025 club year off to a healthy start. The challenge not only helps to increase physical activity - participants also report feeling healthier, more motivated and more connected to their community.
